Apostle Ricky Dhingra: How to Make Your Marriage Blessed: Fear God and Keep His Word
"Your marriage is not a curse. God does not join two people to punish anyone. Fear God, keep His Word, and your marriage will be blessed."

This series has been a blessing. I want to share a testimony. A couple who had separated came back together after hearing this teaching. I pray this season becomes a season of reconciliation for many homes.

Ruth followed Naomi's instruction and went to Boaz. She took a step of faith. Some of you need to take a step like that in your marriage.

The Whole Duty of Man

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

This verse applies to every person, and it is the foundation of a blessed marriage. Obedience matters. Saul was rejected because he did not obey. "Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king" (1 Samuel 15:23).

Be the First to Say Sorry

A child of God should not be slow to say sorry. Always try to be the first. A believer admits his mistakes. If you admit your mistakes, your marriage will get better.

But saying sorry again and again without changing shows weakness. And remember, I can only apologize for my own mistakes. I cannot apologize for yours.

Marriage Shows Your Weak Places

Marriage shows you where you are weakest and most vulnerable. Your spouse will see your weaknesses and you will see theirs. Don't hold one mistake over your spouse for the rest of their life. You need wisdom.

Don't Give Place to the Devil

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:26-27).

If a husband and wife become conscious of this one thing, that we will not give the enemy any place, much will change. Don't carry the morning's anger into the evening. "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer" (1 John 3:15). Cain began with hatred.

Choose peace and choose to be happy. Sometimes, to stay at peace, you need to talk a little less.

Your Marriage Is Not a Curse

Some people think, "God gave me this marriage to teach me a lesson." Sometimes people make wrong choices. But God does not arrange marriages to punish anyone.

Communication Is Your Responsibility

Communicating with your spouse is your responsibility. Communication must always be number one. Understanding each other is very important.

Leadership Means Accountability

When the man's word is final, his responsibility is greater. If his decision is wrong, he will answer for it before God.

Pray for Each Other

Here is a simple pattern. The wife prays for her husband and the children. The husband prays for his wife and the children. Then both pray together for grace in each other's lives.

The man is the Bible teacher of his home. Every day in your prayer time, take one verse and discuss it together. "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:30).

Your Happiness Is Your Responsibility

Your happiness is not your spouse's responsibility. Learn to be happy. When a husband or wife is joyful, home becomes a place the other loves to come back to. Be an encourager. Stand by your spouse. Enjoy life together.

Friends and Support

Men often keep things inside. Loneliness is not God's will. "It is not good that the man should be alone" (Genesis 2:18). A man needs good friends. Don't cut your spouse off from their friends and their parents.

Work, Rest and the Family Table

Let your husband work hard without complaint, and husbands, don't neglect your family. Develop your skills and your interests. Do something physical, or we will all be captured by the digital world.

When the whole family eats together and enjoys the meal, that is a blessed time of fellowship.

Glorify God and Keep Your Vows

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him" (Colossians 3:17). Give God the glory, and recognize His hand of providence in your life.

Read Ecclesiastes 5:1-7. "God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few" (Ecclesiastes 5:2). "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed" (Ecclesiastes 5:4).

When we marry, we make vows before people, before the church, before the angels and before God. Keep them.

A Word to Two Believers

When two believers are married, breaking the marriage should not even be a question. If you don't want a divorce, work on your marriage.

The Word says the way we live our roles is "that the word of God be not blasphemed" (Titus 2:5). A godly home shuts the door on the enemy.

If you are not yet married, prepare yourself. Preparation is a big part of marriage. Become mentally and emotionally strong first. Don't carry unhealed hurts from childhood into your marriage.
